RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work on 4Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) unit with 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds
• Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
• Day shift: 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 1.33 HUC staffing model
• Night shift: 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 0.33 HUC staffing model
• Care for CV surgery and vascular surgery patients including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and vascular procedures
• Handle overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management
• Manage various cardiac medications including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Use Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
• Work with Cerner EMR system
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Stepdown and telemetry experience required
• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred
• Float to any stepdown units, medical surgical units, or ER inpatient holding area
• No on-call requirements
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period required
• Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
