ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 2-week block schedule made by management; night shifts are typically grouped 3-4 in a row
• Every other weekend required
• May be asked to join holiday rotation if shift falls on a regularly scheduled holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 in a 4-bed ICU unit
• Required to titrate drips including Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, Precedex, Fentanyl, Insulin, Esmolol, Versed, and Ketamine
• Must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips using Mindray monitors
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; TNCC and PALS preferred
• ICU experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Common diagnoses include DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress
• Floating may be required to IMCU or MS with full patient assignment; ED float possible with prior ED experience or as helping hands without ED experience
• Any color scrubs accepted
• 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided
• Must be able to function effectively with limited resources in a small community hospital setting
• Cancellation policy: 3 shifts per 13-week contract
