CVICU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This is a 13-week travel contract position offering competitive pay and the opportunity to work with a specialized cardiac patient population.

Position Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3 shifts per week with guaranteed 48 hours minimum; overtime available after 48 hours worked
• 13-week contract duration beginning June 29, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,428.20

Schedule & Staffing:

• Work every 2–3 weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and every other holiday
• Float to inpatient units as needed, primarily critical care and acute care clusters
• Call availability permitted but not required (1-hour response time)
• Contract eligible for up to 36 hours of low census unbillable time

Clinical Environment:

• 12-bed CVICU with 2:1 patient ratio for CRRT, 1:1 for Impella support
• Care for post-operative cardiac patients, acute myocardial infarction (AMI), cardiogenic shock, and induced hypothermia cases
• Perform frequent cardioversions and assist with central line placements and removals
• Manage Swan-Ganz catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)

Requirements:

• Current Wisconsin RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience
• Demonstrated skills with Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, and post-operative cardiac patient management
• Associate degree or certificate required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• CCRN certification preferred but not required
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius of facility
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a timely manner
