RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 or 48 hours accepted per week
• Contract length of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must be able to work holidays
• Charge nurse role is required for night travelers
• Call required if put on a pre-scheduled on-call shift
• Floating to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding required
• Will be assigned to an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Epic experience required; documentation system includes Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR
• Must be able to manage insulin and heparin drips
• Procedures include wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPap with respiratory support
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with general Med/Surg diagnoses; daily census approximately 43
• No PCU level patients on this unit
• Required certifications: BLS
• Preferred certifications: CPI
• Preferred skills: charge nurse experience
• Scrubs not provided; navy scrubs required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required to attend monthly unit team meetings (4th Wednesday January–October at 5:30 PM; 3rd Wednesday in November and December at 5:30 PM); additional night shift meetings held at 7:30 AM on the Friday following each Wednesday meeting
• 24-hour unit orientation
