Description
Opportunity:
Registered Nurse - PCU
Job Details:
• Mixed acuity unit covering PCU, MS Tele, and MS patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5 for days and weekends and 1:3-7 for nights, adjusted by acuity
• Every other weekend requirement
• Float required - may be floated to sister units: West 2, West 3, and Observation unit
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off
• 12-hour orientation
• Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Must be located more than 50 miles from facility
• NY nursing license required
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement; Pyxis and SBAR also utilized
• Scrubs: any solid color
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: PALS, TCAR
• Patient diagnoses include PCU and MS Tele, surgical pre and post, ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, ortho surgery, and overflow medical diagnosis patients
• Required skills include telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips, PCA, thrombolytic agents, titrating cardiac drips, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy, chest tubes, external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and more
• Patient age groups include adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
