ICU RN Job in South Charleston, WV

Join WVU Thomas Health – Thomas Memorial Hospital as an ICU Registered Nurse. You will work 3x12 night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) caring for critically ill patients with complex, life-threatening conditions. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting June 15, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,384.64.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, sometimes 1:3 in the ICU
• Care for patients with sepsis, acute MI, renal conditions, post-vascular procedures, strokes, TIA, and seizures
• Monitor invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Manage lumbar drains, ARDS ventilator management, and cardiovascular procedures
• Titrate critical drips including vasopressors and sedation (Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin)
• Read telemetry strips independently (no monitor tech available)
• Operate BiPap, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and IV pumps
• Use EPIC charting system
• Float as needed to Step-Down, Med-Surg/Telemetry, or Emergency Department

Schedule & Staffing

• Every other weekend requirement (Friday–Saturday or Saturday–Monday)
• Rotational holiday schedule with core staff

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Two years of critical care experience
• Travel nursing experience
• ACLS (AHA) certification
• BLS (AHA) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification
• NIHSS certification
• TNCC certification
• CRRT and IABP experience
• Impella experience

Additional Information

• Serve adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Dress code: Navy scrubs (solid color only, no embroidery or patterns), closed-toed shoes, no Crocs
• Complete hospital orientation, nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour preceptor shifts
