About this role

Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment in Paducah, KY. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM, three days per week with every other weekend required. Weekly pay is $2,260.

Required Certifications:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP

PALS certification is optional. Pulmonary function testing (PFT) is not required.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions
  • Deliver medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by providers
  • Provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support for acute respiratory failure
  • Respond to emergency situations including code blue and rapid response
  • Provide patient support in high-risk delivery situations and care of compromised newborns
  • Perform airway management including endotracheal and tracheostomy tube care and maintenance
  • Monitor and adjust parameters for patients on invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support
  • Assist with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
  • Administer medicated therapies including small volume nebulizer and metered-dose inhaler treatments
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as chest physiotherapy, oscillating positive expiratory pressure, and positive expiratory pressure
  • Provide and adjust oxygen therapy based on patient needs and provider orders
  • Complete patient assessments and provide recommendations to providers
  • Educate patients and families on therapy, respiratory disease, and medications
  • Perform cardiac testing including 12-lead EKGs and holter monitoring
  • Perform arterial and capillary blood gas sampling
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory tests such as blood gases and oximetry studies
  • Document patient assessments, therapy, and pertinent information in the medical record
  • Clean and prepare equipment including mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas delivery devices
  • Participate in quality improvement projects, departmental meetings, and situational debriefs
