Opportunity:
RN - Stepdown
Job Details:
• Work night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
• 13-week contract assignment on a Cardiac Stepdown - Advanced Heart Care (AHC) unit
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 with blended acuity
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling is negotiable
• Must work 2 out of 3 holidays
• 65-mile radius restriction applies; local travelers not accepted
• Must remain within 30 minutes of facility in case of emergency
• Travel pairs not accepted
• Orientation held on Mondays
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; travel experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a certified stroke center or stroke unit required
• Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS (current certificate obtained within 2 years of start date), BLS (AHA only accepted)
• Valid Kentucky RN license or Compact RN license required
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Must demonstrate stroke signs/symptoms competency (e.g., BE-FAST)
• Must have bedside dysphagia screening competency on file
• Must be familiar with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes
• Required skills include cardiac telemetry, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac drips, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Additional skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure management
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Common patient diagnoses include NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, Tikosyn loading, COPD exacerbation, arrhythmias, sepsis, post heart cath, post PCI, and pre-CABG workup
• Unit consists of 22 beds with a daily census of 22 patients
• Patients are adults only
