Opportunity:
RN - SICU
Job Details:
• 13-week contract
• Night shift position
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Patient ratio of 1:2 with changes based on patient acuity
• Float required as needed per hospital policy
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted at time of submission
• Care for surgical and trauma adult critical care patients in a fast-paced 15-bed intensive care unit
• Manage post-operative patients following emergency or highly complex surgical procedures requiring continuous, intensive monitoring and interventions
• Care for patients with multisystem traumatic injuries from various mechanisms
• Required skills include: arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, high flow nasal cannula, infection prevention, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure, phlebotomy, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning, titrating vasoactive drips, and traumatic brain injury care
• Special equipment used includes: Rapid Infuser, CRRT, Camino, NICOM, and blood warmer
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
