CVOR First Assist Job in Olney, MD

As a Certified Surgical First Assistant, you will support surgical teams across seven operating rooms at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, Maryland. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 6:45 AM to 6:45 PM, with an assignment duration of 91 days beginning May 25, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first assist support during general, orthopedic, vascular, gynecological, and robotic surgical procedures
• Manage Mako and DaVinci robotic systems during procedures
• Handle SPD instrument tracking, sterilization equipment, and decontamination equipment
• Float to L&D/OB for cesarean sections as needed
• Work with patient populations ranging from adolescents to geriatrics across a daily census of 25 patients
• Use Cerner charting system for documentation

Schedule and On-Call Requirements

• Call coverage: up to 12 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 7 PM–7 AM) and 12 hours of weekend call (Friday–Sunday, 7 PM–7 PM)
• Two 12-hour weekend shifts per 12-week schedule
• Every other holiday required

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent in an Allied Health field
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a surgical first assistant
• Travel healthcare experience required
• Current NBSTSA and BLS certifications
• Demonstrated experience with community hospital surgical environments
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Weekly pay is $2,166.91. Orientation will be provided at the start of your assignment.
