PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Self-assisted scheduling through Optilink on a 6-week schedule period
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Must have Cardiac PCU experience and be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise 1:5
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
• EPIC experience required
• Must be able to pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Adults-only patient population
• Primary focus on cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus on respiratory conditions including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management without titration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, procedural sedation administration, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP management, and tracheostomy management
• Use of Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Nurse assistants available 24/7; RN secretary available 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
