About this role

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel position starting April 15, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,102.40.

Schedule & Expectations

  • Work 3x12 night shifts (6:45 PM–7:15 AM) with every other weekend requirement
  • Holiday support required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to other units as needed

The Role

You'll provide direct patient care in a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit with patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU settings and 4–5:1 in PCU settings. Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. You'll conduct mandatory bedside shift reports and assist with nurse leader rounding as a relief charge nurse.

Clinical Skills & Equipment

You must be comfortable with critical care equipment including ventilators, IV pumps, lift equipment, and Targeted Temperature Management systems. You'll perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring, central line management, ventilator management, and critical care pharmacology tasks involving IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors. You'll also assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations.

Requirements

  • Current RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Medical ICU experience in a large facility
  • Demonstrated competency in hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
  • Ability to function as a critical thinker in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

You'll use the Cerner electronic documentation system and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. Dress code is navy blue or white scrubs. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with colleagues in a dynamic critical care setting.
