Description
Opportunity:
RN - SICU
Job Details:
• 13-week contract
• Night shift schedule
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off available per contract
• Patient ratio of 1:2 with changes based on patient acuity
• Care for surgical and trauma adult critical care patients in a fast-paced 15-bed intensive care unit within a Level 1 facility
• Manage post-operative patients following emergency or highly complex surgical procedures requiring continuous, intensive monitoring and interventions
• Manage patients with multisystem traumatic injuries from various mechanisms
• Assess and manage care for patients with multi-system conditions requiring high competency and compassion
• Float within scope of practice within the facility as needed per hospital policy
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
• Epic charting experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted at time of submission but must be in-hand the Wednesday before start date
• Required skills include: arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, high flow nasal cannula, infection prevention, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure, phlebotomy, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning, titrating vasoactive drips, and traumatic brain injury care
• Special equipment includes: Rapid Infuser, CRRT, Camino, NICOM, and blood warmer
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
