PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 nights, weekdays with some weekends required
• Block scheduling available for weekend blocks only (Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Mon)
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flex to 1:5 in emergencies
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics, primarily cardiac patients including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures
• Unit capacity of 36 beds with a daily census of 34
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips and telemetry
• Minimum 1 year of Medical/Telemetry experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
• Required skills: IV start and telemetry monitoring
• Key clinical skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation of arterial blood gases, management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, PICC line management, and wound care
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Charting system: Cerner
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
