Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekends scheduled every other weekend
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedule is managed by unit manager with consideration for requested time off
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent schedule
• Rotating shifts will be spread out so days and nights are not worked in the same week, typically 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights
• No on-call or standby requirement
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Unit consists of 48 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix; no cardiac drip titration required
• Respiratory therapy team administers breathing treatments, manages BiPap, CPAP, and high-flow O2; RNs required to monitor only
• Monitor techs located on level 5 read and monitor telemetry for all patients and notify nurses of any concerns; nurses are not expected to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• May be floated to other Med Surg, Med Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue for RNs
• Orientation consists of 1 day with educator/computer systems and 1 day with a preceptor
• Charting system: EPIC
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS
• Must provide a copy of unexpired driver's license at time of submission
• Must disclose any licensing hits at time of submission
• 50-mile radius rule applies
