Med Surg RN Job in Council Bluffs, IA

You'll provide direct patient care on a Med Surg unit at CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs, working 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This is a 91-day assignment with self-scheduling and an every-third-weekend requirement (Friday and Saturday count as weekend for night shifts).

Role Details

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:5 across 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds
• Care for patients with total knees, total hips, shoulder replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, and other medical-surgical conditions
• Administer IV infusions, heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombics, and narcotics (no drip titration required)
• Conduct hourly rounding and bedside shift reports
• Float to PCU and McDermott (behavioral health) as needed
• Use EPIC charting system

What We Need From You

• Current RN license and BLS certification
• Valid driver's license at time of submittal
• Willingness to be flexible, self-directed, and comfortable with change
• Artificial nails must be removed or not worn during shifts
• Navy blue scrubs required
• You must live more than 50 miles from the facility and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities

Orientation

• First week classroom orientation followed by one 12-hour unit shift
• You must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a 90% score to continue in the role

Compensation

You'll earn $2,338.92 per week.
