About this role

Shannon Medical Center - Big Spring is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 29, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work as a circulating nurse in a busy surgical environment serving a daily census of 4 patients across 4 operating rooms. Your primary responsibility is patient care during surgical procedures with a 1:1 patient ratio during day shifts. You will work with patient populations including adolescents, adults, and pediatrics across a range of surgical specialties.

Schedule and Compensation

This position offers flexibility in scheduling options: the standard 3x12 day shifts, or alternative 4x10 or 5x8 arrangements may be considered. Weekend coverage is required, and you will participate in a rotating on-call schedule. Weekly pay is $2,436.48. You will receive 40 hours of orientation prior to assuming full duties. Please note: your first day will be reported at the San Angelo location, after which you will resume your contract in Big Spring.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Current RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of operating room experience with demonstrated circulating skills
  • Prior travel healthcare experience
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system
  • Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and standard OR equipment
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred

Surgical Procedures and Scope

You will support a range of general surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, colon resection, laparoscopic procedures, circumcision, and emergency cesarean sections. On-call responsibilities are limited to general surgery and emergency c-sections only. Your experience with these surgical areas will be essential to this role.
