Job Details:

• Participate as a team member in the planning and implementation of nursing care for each patient
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and ancillary services to provide safe patient care
• Demonstrate a professional, courteous manner while handling confidential patient and family information with discretion
• Clean instruments and ensure sterility is achieved using appropriate procedures
• Recognize successful completion of steam autoclave and automated high-level disinfectant units
• Select equipment and supplies in an organized manner based on surgical procedure
• Prepare instrument sets according to preference lists, patient history, and age
• Utilize supplies cost-effectively and demonstrate ability to handle and operate sophisticated equipment
• Detect and readily adapt to changes in surgical procedures
• Create and maintain sterile field while adhering to aseptic technique in accordance with AORN Standards
• Open and handle sterile supplies, perform proper surgical hand scrubbing, don sterile gown and gloves, set up sterile field, and assist in proper draping of patients
• Initiate corrective measures when a break in sterile technique occurs
• Use care with sharps to prevent injury or contamination
• Follow policies and procedures for counts and maintain adequate count of all countable items on the sterile field
• Initiate proper protocol when counts are incorrect
• Accurately draw up medication with proper labeling of all solutions and syringes
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor to new employees
• Assess surgical environment for safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
• Support a state of continual service readiness and ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work and care environment
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• OR Tech certification required
• BLS certification through AHA or RQI specifically required
