SLP Job in Hilo, HI

Join Hilo Medical Center as a Speech-Language Pathologist on an inpatient rehabilitation team. This 182-day assignment runs days on a generally set schedule, five days per week, likely including one weekend day each week.

Your Role

You will provide speech-language pathology services across acute care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facility settings. Key responsibilities include performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies independently in radiology without radiologist supervision, documenting in Meditech and paper-based systems, and managing referrals for outpatient care. You may float to another facility based on census and staffing needs.

Experience & Credentials Required

• Minimum two years of speech-language pathology experience
• Acute care experience with demonstrated independence and proficiency
• Preferred background in skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation hospital settings
• Ability to complete Modified Barium Swallow Studies independently
• Active Hawaii rehabilitation license
• BLS certification
• Must hold active Hawaii license by start date

What to Expect

Orientation to the rehabilitation area and role expectations will be provided. The facility is transitioning its EMR system to Epic on November 1, 2025, with training included. Dress code follows facility policy, typically scrubs or per department guidelines.
