PCU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 27, 2026, with 4x12-hour night shifts at $2,799.36 weekly.

Assignment Details

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend coverage required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Night shift patient ratio of 1:5
• 24 hours of orientation included
• Flexibility to float to another floor or alternate campus as needed

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Must reside 150 miles or more from the facility
• Travel experience preferred

Clinical Skills and Experience Required

You will care for adult and geriatric patient populations with expertise in post-surgical care. Required competencies include managing cardiac drips and chest tubes, accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry monitoring, central line care and management, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, vasoactive drip titration, PCA management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, post-cardiac angiogram care, post-MI care, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization, pre- and post-cardiac surgery support, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, renal failure management, TR Band management, and starting and maintaining IVs.

Support and Tools

• Altera charting experience preferred (not required)
• Access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, radiology, and social services
