About this role
McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our cardiovascular operating room team. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 19, 2026, on a 5x8 day shift schedule with weekday hours and weekend call responsibilities.
Role Overview
You will work in a high-volume cardiovascular operating room, assisting with approximately 6 cases per day. Your responsibilities include open heart surgery and vascular procedures performed under surgeon supervision. You will maintain the highest standards of sterile technique and ensure patient and staff safety throughout each procedure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing instrument, sharps, and sponge counts before, during, and after surgery
- Maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment for all procedures
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping per department standards
- Establish and maintain sterile field throughout cases
- Participate in surgical site verification during timeout procedures
- Prepare and pass off specimens as appropriate
- Assist with patient lifting, turning, and positioning using proper body mechanics
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Ensure operating room environment safety and proper equipment function
- Use standard precautions and PPE when handling hazardous substances
Requirements
NBSTSA certification is required. You must demonstrate competency in access control, emergency management, infection control, and communication. The ideal candidate is flexible, punctual, and committed to learning in a surgical environment while providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
Compensation and Details
Weekly pay is $2,686.40. This assignment offers you the opportunity to expand your surgical skills in a busy cardiovascular setting while working with an experienced surgical team.
