Job Details:

• Work night shifts Monday through Friday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
• Technician certification required from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
• Clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrumentation and reusable supply items
• Coordinate and prepare necessary supplies and instruments for emergent and routine surgical cases
• Assemble and wrap instrument sets
• Ensure proper use of sterilized sonic cleaners and other related equipment
• Retrieve and deliver surgical instruments on a timely basis
• Thoroughly inspect instruments to ensure all are clean and in good working order prior to sterilization
• Decontaminate instruments using proper chemical mixtures and procedures
• Test, operate, and load autoclaves
• Participate in routine cleaning and decontamination of all department work surfaces
• Complete sterilization log sheets
• Periodically check sterile inventory to remove expired or compromised items
• Re-sterilize compromised instrument sets as needed
• Identify and notify appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages
• May assist in training new staff
• Prepare and maintain accurate case carts by pulling needed supplies and instruments
• Coordinate with operating room staff to ensure proper supplies are delivered for each case
• Maintain optimal levels of patient care surgical supplies and equipment
• Follow FIFO (first in, first out) inventory control practices
