PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Work primarily 12-hour shifts with start times varying (8-8, 9-9, or 11-11); 8-hour or 10-hour shifts may be considered if departmental needs are met
• Work across multiple recovery areas including inpatient PACU, outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic
• Cover both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery across all four areas
• Float between inpatient and outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic as needed
• Must be flexible with scheduling and available to stay until cases are completed for the day
• Up to 4 schedule requests per schedule period allowed
• Weekend call requirement: 1 on-call shift per month (24 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
• Weekly call requirement: 2 overnight on-call shifts per month (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Holiday call coverage rotation shared with permanent staff (24 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
• Recover all general, neuro, thoracic, interventional cath lab, radiology, and simple procedure cases; open heart patients go directly to ICU
• ICU patients are recovered in PACU with the exception of open heart cases
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Ventilators managed per respiratory therapy
• Charting system: Allscripts (Sunrise EMR)
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy in-house 24/7 with Pyxis access
• Scrubs provided for all areas except the Anesthesia Clinic; Navy Blue scrubs must be provided by staff for Anesthesia Clinic
• Required certifications for inpatient/outpatient PACU and Surgery Center: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Required certifications for Anesthesia Clinic: BLS only
• BSN not required
• Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius; copy of unexpired driver's license required at submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
