PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - IMC

Job Details:

• Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend coverage required with unit directing weekend schedule based on operational needs
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on IMC unit
• Float required to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed (ratios on these units are 1:5 to 1:6)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment prior to consideration
• PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care and management, chest tube management, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, IV insulin protocols, managing cardiac drips without titration, oxygen administration, PCA management, peripheral line care and management, pre and post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, starting and maintaining IVs, and telemetry monitoring
• Special equipment includes bedside monitoring for up to 8 patients, ultrasound IV, cardiac monitoring, and lift equipment
• Patient population is adult with diagnoses including CHF, diabetes, COPD/Asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, ETOH withdrawal, and general surgery
• Special procedures include chest tubes, PCA infusions, bedside monitoring, non-titratable drips, and IV infusions
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
