Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work night shifts caring for primarily medical surgical patients with oncology history
• Target patient ratio of 1:6 (may be higher during increased census)
• 13-26 week contracts accepted
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, will accept first-time travelers
• Must have experience in inpatient setting with Med/Surg background
• Required skills: Colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac
• Required certifications: BLS, oncology certification preferred, must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Call requirement if called off on pre-scheduled shift
• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holding
• Must be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team
• May be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• 24-hour orientation (2 shifts)
• Must attend monthly staff meetings
• Dress code: Navy blue and white scrubs
• Documentation systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
• Patient diagnoses include: AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, pain, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, diabetic foot ulcers
