Opportunity:
RN - ICU
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available as 3x12 (36 hours per week) or 4x12 (48 hours per week)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Float within service line to ICU units as needed
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; travel experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Patient ratio of 1:2; 1.5:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Unit is a 21-bed multidisciplinary ICU; travel RNs will not take fresh cardiac cases but may be scheduled in the CTICU for coverage
• Strong cardiac knowledge required
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain/cardiac/arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
• Unit handles pre and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries; medicine and neuro-medicine overflow; pre- and post-transplant; and end-of-life/organ donation cases
• Special equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy
• Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Required skills include: Medical and Surgical ICU, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG, CVP monitoring, Pulmonary Artery/Swan Ganz monitoring, chronic/acute renal failure, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line management, IV placement and maintenance, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP assistance, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure management, suctioning (ETT/NT), ventilator management, infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wound care with drains/wound vac
• Pre-approved time off limited to no more than 7 days; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract
