About this role

Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center – Riverside is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist to join the Diagnostic Imaging department. You will support diagnostic and interventional procedures in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting, working day shift with rotating on-call coverage for weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Your Responsibilities

  • Verify patient identification and obtain signed informed procedural consent
  • Review patient allergies and contrast reaction history before procedures
  • Prepare and sterilize equipment; verify sterile supplies and medication expiration dates
  • Monitor and record vital signs; assess distal pulses before and after procedures
  • Participate in pre-procedural time-out activities and advocate for radiation safety
  • Prepare access sites with sterile drapes and positioning
  • Set up and operate automatic contrast injectors
  • Prepare or assist in administering injectable medications per physician orders
  • Scrub with physician using sterile and aseptic technique
  • Position patients and imaging equipment for desired projections
  • Acquire and process digital images, including road mapping, subtraction, and 3D reconstructions
  • Assist with ultrasound guidance for vascular or organ access and biopsy
  • Provide post-procedural patient care, including pressure application and dressing placement
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
  • Wear and monitor personal radiation dosimeter

Training and Experience

You will receive training in all cardiovascular intervention specialties, including Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Neurology, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology. Experience working at a Level 1 Trauma Center is preferred.

Required Credentials

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation
  • ARRT(R) certification
  • ARRT(VI) or ARRT(CI) certification
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 6, 2026. You will work 40 hours per week at a weekly rate of $2,565.
