Physical Therapist Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will provide acute inpatient physical therapy at Mercy Hospital Southwest in Bakersfield, California. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning April 21, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,452.80.

Schedule & Hours

• Primary shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• One day per week: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM coverage
• Every third weekend rotation with Monday and Friday off during those weekends
• No holiday requirements
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Clinical Responsibilities

• Treat approximately 12+ patients per day in acute inpatient setting
• Cover Medical/Surgical units, ICU, and ER areas
• Work with general medical and deconditioned patients, total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, spinal surgery, general orthopedic conditions, and stroke patients
• Float as needed to support facility demands
• Document in Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Acute inpatient physical therapy experience required
• Current California PT license
• BLS certification (AHA)

Onboarding & Expectations

• Department-specific orientation includes general hospital orientation plus training in each coverage area
• Dress code: burgundy polo and scrub or khaki bottoms
