Job Details:

• Function in the role of scrub person within the operating room environment
• Work under the supervision of the surgeon and the R.N. to ensure a safe O.R. environment
• Ensure equipment functions properly and that operative procedures are conducted to maximize patient safety
• Apply expertise in surgical technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies
• Facilitate safe care of patients during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
• Assure completion of case carts according to preference cards
• Recognize and interpret preference cards for the procurement of instruments and supplies
• Communicate clearly with operating room staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled cases
• Review daily schedule with charge nurse and day coordinator of sterile processing to identify possible turnover delays and scheduling issues
• Manage core phone and communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches
• Serve as a resource for SPD and Surgical Services departments for procurement of necessary supplies and instrumentation
• Communicate and coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment
• May float to Labor & Delivery as needed
• Must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification required
