Job Details:

• Perform all routine and specialized sonographic testing and emergency call-back coverage
• Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic general ultrasound examinations and procedures
• Correlate clinical history with tests to be performed and consult patient medical records
• Identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images
• Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures
• Operate complex ultrasound equipment, monitors, recorders, and other patient assessment equipment
• Select appropriate equipment and transducer frequency and size for proper examination
• Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognize electronic equipment limitations
• Provide technical and nursing aid for general ultrasound interventional procedures including biopsies and intraoperative procedures
• Produce high-quality sonograms and evaluate images for technical quality
• Provide on-call emergency coverage as required by the department
• Maintain pertinent records and EMR documentation
• Utilize IT/IS systems to schedule, book, review, and ensure patient appointments are complete and accurate
• Schedule general ultrasound exams, studies, and procedures for all patients including add-ons and walk-ins
• Must have grayscale discrimination ability
• Must be able to work well in high-stress situations
• Associate degree preferred
• Graduate of ARDMS school of sonography required
• Maine state licensure required
• ARDMS registration required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Candidate must reside outside of a 50-mile radius
