PCU RN Job in Bismarck, ND

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting May 18, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,286.36.

Schedule and Expectations

• 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend and holiday requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5, occasionally 1:5–6 on nights, with PCU-level overflow at 1:3
• Floating to all unit areas as helping hands, PCU for full patient load, Med-Surg for full assignment, and occasional ER holds/boarding

Clinical Responsibilities

You'll care for adults and geriatric patients with cardiac conditions including post-cardiac catheterization, EP studies, pacemakers, and general surgery with cardiac history. You'll manage acute conditions such as acute alcohol withdrawal, COVID pneumonia on BiPap, influenza, sepsis, and acute-on-chronic presentations.

You must independently read and interpret cardiac strips and titrate critical drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin, nitroglycerin, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose dopamine.

Unit Details

The 32-bed unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring, BiPap, tracheostomy support, and Airvo devices. Epic charting system experience is preferred. Any color scrubs are permitted.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• PCU experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips independently
• First travelers are accepted

Orientation

You'll complete two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation during the first week (Friday and Saturday). The 50-mile radius rule applies to this assignment.
