ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with day shift hours of 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM or night shift hours of 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) schedule required, typically 2 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) per month, though more may be required based on unit needs
• May require up to 2 extra mandatory shifts per 6-week period
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday required
• Scheduling based on unit needs; self-scheduling and blocked scheduling are not available
• Minimum of 2 years' ICU experience required, including cardiac experience
• Experience required with IABP, Impella, CRRT, and Day 2/Day 3 post-op CABGs
• Must be willing to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed; travelers are first to float
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 for lower acuity patients
• 10-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 5+
• Common diagnoses include open hearts, CHF, COPD, OD, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, and some neuro cases; TeleStroke program in place
• Adults and patients under the age of 8 will be admitted to the ICU; pediatric patients over 8 years of age will be in PCU or Med Surg unless ICU level of care is required
• Pediatrics experience highly preferred; PALS required for all
• Charting system: EPIC; prior EPIC experience required
• Scrub color: Navy blue, black, or charcoal grey
• BSN not required
• Nebraska or compact nursing license, active and in good standing, required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA or ARC), BLS (AHA or ARC), NIHSS, PALS (AHA or ARC)
• Punctuality is expected; clock out for lunch is required; termination is likely after 3 call-outs
