NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 3 shifts per week required
• 2 years of experience in a hospital setting required
• Active nursing license required at time of submission
• Work in a 5-bed NICU unit, including one negative pressure room, caring for babies up to 30 days old
• Patient ratios: 1:1 for CPAP, otherwise 1:2, occasionally 1:3 for feeder growers
• Will primarily work mother-baby unit with NICU coverage when NICU babies are present (approximately 50 NICU cases per year)
• Two NICU nurses on at all times - one in NICU and one in mother-baby; will never work alone
• Unit handles deliveries of 30-40 babies per month
• Care for patients at 32 weeks gestation and above; ventilated patients are transferred
• Equipment used includes OGs, IVs, Hi-Flow, CPAP, PANDA warmers, and Giraffe warmers (no ventilators)
• Advanced skills required: CPAP management, occasional UVC placements, Hi-Flow, IVs
• Procedures performed on unit include surfactant administration, occasional chest tubes, and UVC placements (no surgeries)
• Documentation system: CPN
• Floating policy: Will work mother-baby most of the time and NICU when NICU babies are present
• Patient experience requirements: Press Ganey
• Required certifications: NRP, STABLE, CPR
• Required dress code: Wine colored scrubs (some available on unit)
