ED - Emergency Room

RN - ER

Job Details:

• Work varied 12-hour shifts starting between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate in with core staff for 1 major holiday per year
• Float between Bryan and College Station campus (16 minutes apart) as needed
• May float to assist as helping hands without taking an assignment
• No call or standby requirements
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83%) before signing contract with three attempts allowed
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Minimum 2+ years of ER experience required
• Must have experience in similar patient volume, trauma level, and facility size
• May be asked to precept as needed by the unit
• Call outs strongly discouraged and could lead to termination
• Work with typical ER patients including trauma, chest pain, pediatric cases, and geriatric patients
• Handle procedures including chest tubes, rapid transfusions, and intubated patients
• Manage common drips: Diltiazem, Cardene, Nitro, Propofol, Fentanyl, Levophed
• Nurse to patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:3-4 for general acute care, 1:1 or 2:1 for Level I traumas, 1:6-8 for vertical care
• Dress code: Navy scrubs with navy undershirts, optional navy scrub jackets
• 3-shift orientation in the ER
• Use MEDITECH charting system
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
