ICU Registered Nurse Job in Christiansburg, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the 12-bed ICU at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting May 11, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,016.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12 hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 2:1 patient ratio
• Weekend requirement: either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Floating required within skillset
• 24 hours of orientation provided

Patient Population and Clinical Responsibilities

You will care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, including respiratory failures, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, diabetic ketoacidosis, and vascular and general surgery patients.

• Manage ventilator patients, arterial lines, and multiple drips
• Administer pressure support and manage BiPAP and CPAP
• Perform IV therapy, arterial line management, and central/PICC line care
• Administer blood products and emergency medications
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Manage continuous IV sedation
• Assist physicians at bedside with procedures

Requirements

• Current RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• 2+ years of ICU experience preferred
• NIHSS and CCRN certifications preferred

Interdisciplinary Support

You will work with physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
