Laboratory - Medical Technologist

Job Details:

• Work 5x8-hour day shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Rotating weekend and holiday schedule required (currently every 3rd weekend, subject to change)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Strictly assigned to Microbiology - no floating between service lines
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Minimum 3 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline required
• Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification required
• Experience in Microbiology and Beaker highly preferred
• Experience in culture reading, identification, and susceptibility testing highly preferred
• Required experience includes culture set up, Gram stain, and rapid PCR setup
• Experience in plating, reading Gram stains, and performing rapid molecular testing (BioFire Torch panels and Cepheid assays) preferred
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests including quality control and troubleshooting
• Operate specialized equipment including BD Kiestra, BD Bactec FX, BD Epicenter, BD Synapsys, Cepheid Infinity 48, Cepheid GeneXpert XVI, Biomerieux Torch, BD Phoenix M50, BD Phoenix AP, Bruker MALDI, BD MGIT 960, and Hologic Accuprobe
• Perform procedures in Bacteriology, AFB, and Mycology
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and perform preventative maintenance
• Communicate technical information to medical staff and patients
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures
• Participate in continuing education and recognize normal and abnormal values
