ICU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three days per week, with a guaranteed 48 hours weekly and overtime available after 48 hours worked. This is a 91-day contract position starting July 20, 2026.

Responsibilities:

• Float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Med/Surg ICU units, with possible assignment to other critical care and inpatient units as needed
• Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and basic bedside ICU procedures including line placement and intubation
• Manage patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and post-neurosurgery conditions
• Care for patients with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
• Assist with bedside bolt and drain placements in collaboration with Neurosurgery
• Document patient care in the EPIC charting system
• Rotate every other weekend and every other holiday as scheduled

Requirements:

• Valid Wisconsin RN license
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• NIHSS certification
• Minimum two years of nursing experience with one travel assignment preferred
• Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU background with strong neurological assessment skills
• EPIC charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Ability to work independently, manage change, and complete tasks in a timely manner

• Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, taken in one-hour increments as needed
• Weekly pay: $2,351.52

Experience as a Neuro Interventionalist is a plus. Scrubs may be any color.
