Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Critical care night shift position working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3x12 shift schedule with no on-call, no call, and no holiday requirements
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• Float limited to PACU or PreOp units only
• Provide post-anesthesia care in a high-acuity 38-bay PACU unit open 24/7 with an average daily census of 70-90 patients
• Recover surgical patients including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
• Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
• Night shift nurses are expected to work up preoperative patients for first cases from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM when no PACU patients are present
• Approximately 80% of patients are admitted to the hospital following their procedure or surgery
• Care for patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring including ICP monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in a Level I Trauma Center
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required; ICU/critical care experience required
• Required skills: Epic charting, critical care experience, inpatient care, Phase I PACU, dysrhythmia recognition and management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, experience with drains and vasoactive drips, recovery from general anesthesia, post cardiac surgery, lobectomy, chest trauma, ex-lap and splenectomy, and trauma patients
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN and TNCC preferred
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Charting system: Epic
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
• RTO maximum of 7 days; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
