X-Ray Technician

Opportunity:

SMH General X - SMH : L1RAD : X-Ray Tech

Job Details:

• Work Sunday through Thursday, 5x8-hour shifts from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
• Evening shift schedule with on-call, callback, and holiday availability per unit needs
• 2 to 3 on-call shifts required per month
• Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts
• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before beginning x-ray procedures
• Operate x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions
• Position patients accordingly, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility
• Handle all radiologic equipment safely and maintain lowest possible radiation dose to patients
• Observe patient status and interpret information to meet age-specific needs
• Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist
• Promptly notify management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient information and practice dual patient identifier procedures
• Maintain accurate patient record keeping and ensure images are sent to the PACS system correctly
• Minimum 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• Recent OR experience at a trauma 1 center required
• Experience using c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months required
• NYS license or ability to obtain license prior to starting required
• ARRT certification required
• BLS (American Heart Association only) required
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods required
