OR Registered Nurse Job in Gardner, MA

Join Heywood Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. You will work a 4x10 rotating schedule and earn $2,482 weekly. This 91-day travel assignment begins May 26, 2026.

About the Role

You will conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, and evaluate nursing interventions. Your responsibilities include collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and surgical technicians during surgical procedures. You'll maintain sterile fields, ensure proper care and sterilization of instruments and supplies, and verify patient identification, consent forms, operative procedures, and surgical sites before patients enter the operating room.

Core duties include:

• Apply aseptic practice principles and oversee selection and preparation of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments according to facility policies
• Identify, label, care for, and handle all specimens and cultures following established procedures
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy per physician orders and protocols
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels using numerical pain scales
• Provide thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions
• Function effectively in an environment with competing priorities

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Massachusetts RN license
• ACLS certification required upon hire, or active BLS card with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Operating room nursing experience
• CNOR certification
