Surgical Tech - Surgical Tech

Job Details:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Schedule includes one Saturday or Sunday each week plus 2 weekdays
• Night tech will work every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Potential weekend on-call shifts with a 30-minute or less response time required
• Will work holidays to maintain 24/7 coverage with other tech on unit
• Hospital scrubs provided
• No floating requirements
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA, or NCCT
• Completion of an accredited surgical tech program required
• Completion of an accredited medical personnel program such as CNA, MA, LPN, or EMT I/II preferred
• Assists and supports surgical procedures by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies required for cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and circumcisions
• Maintains sterile technique while assisting in draping patient in operative area
• Prepares, passes, and maintains correct count of instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies
• Assists with EVS duties including turning over rooms and OR cleaning as needed
• Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds
• Records vital signs and intake and output into patient record and/or computer and reports changes in patient condition or behavior to RN
• Maintains appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms
• Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill or judgment of a licensed professional including patient baths, bed making, application of ice bags, and ambulating patients
• Performs clerical duties including assembling charts and packets and entering charges
• Obtains birth certificate information and enters data into vital statistics database
• Performs point of care testing
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care
• Valid driver's license required
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from facility
• Charting system: EPIC
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
