Job Details:

• Work on K8 General Surgery unit located on the 8th floor of K-tower
• Unit consists of 44 beds with a staff of 75
• Day shift patient ratio is 1:6; night shift patient ratio is 1:7
• Must be able to manage 6-7 patients depending on shift
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Telemetry competency required
• Experience with urology and bowel patients required
• Work with equipment including telemetry monitors, PCA pumps, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters
• EMR system: Cerner
• Perform procedures including TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, urostomies, and drain management (biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI)
• Administer heparin drips and IV antibiotics
• Care for post-surgical patients including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs
• May float to other med-surg areas as needed
• Required certifications: BLS, telemetry competency
• Dress code: Navy blue pants, navy blue or white scrub top and jacket, white undershirt if needed; no sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, or jackets
• Ideal candidate is positive, energetic, fast-paced, and a strong communicator with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and CNA team
