PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work the night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week, with 36 guaranteed hours weekly. This is a fast-paced intermediate cardiac stepdown environment where you will care for post-operative and acute cardiac patients in a 44-bed unit.

Your responsibilities include:

• Manage a typical patient ratio of 1:4 in the PCU
• Care for post-op CABG, valve procedures, thoracotomy, vascular, and arrhythmia patients
• Monitor acute chest pain, MI, post-procedure patients, and handle medical/surgical overflow including detox, DKA, and COPD exacerbations
• Float to other inpatient units as needed
• Administer cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro with proficiency
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday

Requirements:

• Valid Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU
• Minimum 2 years of IMC, PCU, or Telemetry experience
• At least one completed travel assignment
• 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• Must pass an EKG test during your first week
• Clinical interview required
• Associate degree or certificate required; bachelor's degree preferred
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
