ED RN Job in College Station, TX

Join CHI St Joseph Health College Station Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room for an 84-day travel assignment beginning July 13, 2026. You'll work three 12-hour evening shifts per week on a matrix schedule that prioritizes accommodation of traveler preferences.

Your Role

You'll deliver direct patient care in a high-volume ED treating approximately 70 patients daily. The patient population presents with pediatric, cardiac, STEMI, stroke, abdominal pain, respiratory, and GI cases. You'll maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4 depending on acuity.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently
• Perform EKGs
• Troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Manage common ER drips including pressors and sedation
• Collaborate with phlebotomy for lab draws and nearby radiology services

Scheduling & Expectations

• Evening shifts with start times at 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holidays worked in rotation with permanent staff
• No on-call or standby obligations
• Travelers float first when needed in a helping capacity
• Call-outs strongly discouraged and may result in termination

What You Need

• Current RN license and minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• Active ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Advanced Dysrhythmia exam score of 83% or higher before contract signing (up to three attempts permitted)
• BSN not required

Facility Details

You'll chart in MEDITECH. Navy scrubs are required with navy undershirts and optional navy jackets. Orientation spans 1–3 shifts depending on your experience, completed with a preceptor-led checkoff packet.
