RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Implement professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person within a caring environment focused on healing and wellness
• Base nursing practices on evidence and current research, hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines
• Incorporate all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity into clinical decision-making
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including consideration of culture, age, and developmental level
• Identify patient risk factors, obtain health information from family members as necessary, and collect both objective and subjective data
• Develop and prioritize patient problem lists based on input from the inter-professional team
• Determine desired outcomes in coordination with patient and family in accordance with the medical plan of care
• Fully implement patient care therapies and procedures with clinical autonomy within scope of practice
• Explain procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families
• Recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition appropriately
• Conduct and document ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies using the nursing process
• Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee team members in the performance of patient care activities
• Monitor accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care provided by other team members
• Identify and address educational needs of patients related to prioritized problems
• Facilitate patient discharge process by executing discharge orders in a timely manner and coordinating with Case Management
• Provide input into patient and nurse assignments considering available staffing, unit activity, and patient acuity
• Actively participate in department and unit quality improvement activities and core measures including patient satisfaction, patient falls, pressure ulcers, and CAUTIs
• Promote a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions
• Use a holistic perspective regarding patient care
