Opportunity:

Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapist I

Job Details:

• Administer standard respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, basic bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, and oxygen therapy
• Perform arterial cannulation and arterial punctures
• Provide comprehensive airway management including aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care, tube changes, and endotracheal intubations/extubations
• Conduct pulmonary function testing as needed
• Transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per UNC Air Care Protocol when working with Carolina Air Care
• Perform advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
• Manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support of patients when working with ECMO
• Handle all aspects of ventilator care including setup, verification, and specialized ventilator modes
• Provide appropriate patient monitoring and weaning techniques
• May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Serve as resource for staff and physicians based on experience level
• Assist in training new staff members, students, and physicians
• May assume charge therapist responsibilities
• Document all patient care procedures and information in electronic medical record system
• Must have experience with EPIC, adult RT experience, and Bella Vista Bypaps
• Preferred experience with G5 Hamilton Vent, V60 Bypap, Volera System, and Vest System
• Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program required
• Licensed as a respiratory care practitioner by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board
• Must be registered CRT or RRT with current BLS certification
• English language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking required
