About this role
You'll work as a registered nurse on a medical-surgical rehabilitation unit at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a start date of May 11, 2026.
Shift and Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, nights only
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week cycle
- Holiday coverage based on unit needs
The Role
You'll care for a 90% neuro population including patients with traumatic brain injury, brain tumor resection, cerebrovascular accident, lung transplant, and liver transplant. Your patient ratio will be 1:6 with tech support at 1:8. You may float to other Med Surg units as needed. Average patient length of stay is 19–21 days, with peak activity between 6–9 AM and 6:30–9 PM.
Requirements
- Current RN degree and BLS certification
- Level 1 trauma experience (required)
- Strong medical-surgical experience; rehab experience preferred
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
- Pass/fail SIMs lab on day 1 of orientation, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Ability to maintain sterile field competency
- Own vehicle for travel (50-mile radius rule applies)
Facility Details
You'll use the Cerner EMR system. Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts. Communication and personal involvement with patients and families are essential to this role.
Compensation and Logistics
Weekly pay is $2,154.96. Uniform requirements: slate grey scrubs, natural hair color, no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.
