Respiratory Therapist Job in Bedford, IN

IU Health Bedford Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team on a 91-day travel assignment. You'll work 3x12 hour night shifts, providing 36 hours per workweek with guaranteed hours and the opportunity to make a real difference in patient care.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care across ICU, PCU, and medical surgical units within the hospital and affiliate facilities
• Manage ventilators and BiPAP equipment, including Hamilton systems
• Assist with intubation and extubation procedures
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and manage oxygen delivery
• Provide tracheostomy care and pulmonary hygiene treatments
• Treat respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and other diagnoses
• Maintain patient documentation in the Cerner charting system
• Carry a patient load of 2 during nights and weekends

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years respiratory therapy experience (candidates with 3 years will be screened)
• Current RRT, ACLS, BLS certifications and Indiana state license required
• Experience with adult critical care and emergency department cases
• NRP and PALS certifications preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Two supervisor references required

Schedule & Logistics

• Assignment begins May 19, 2026
• Every 3rd weekend required with 4 weekend shifts per contract
• Typically 1–2 on-call weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• 36 hours of orientation provided

Compensation

Weekly pay: $1,918.08
