Description
Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg Tele
Job Details:
• Day shift position with 36 or 48 hours available per week
• 13-week contract
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Unable to approve Labor Day weekend off
• Maximum of 40 hours of time off per 13-week contract
• Work in a 22-bed acute care unit primarily comprised of General Surgery and Trauma patients
• Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit with the remaining 10% having medical diagnoses
• Patient ratios are 1:4 for days, nights, and weekends with an occasional 1:5 and a free-float charge RN
• All rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring, capnography or end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry
• 8 beds available for telemetry or end-tidal CO2 monitoring covered by monitor techs at a central monitoring unit
• Nurses are not required to verify strips
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery
• May float to other acute care units per float policy
• 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred but not required
• Virginia nursing license required; pending licenses accepted
• Required skills include but are not limited to: central line care and management, chest tube management, telemetry and remote monitoring, wound care and wound vac, tracheostomy care and management, surgical drains, PICC line management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and use of rapid response and code teams
