PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every 3rd weekend required, covering Friday and Saturday nights plus an additional Friday or Saturday each schedule
• Holiday coverage required for Halloween, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas night
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Work on a 25-bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit
• Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 Unit Secretary, and 2-3 Techs; night shift includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, and 1 Tech
• Perform procedures including peritoneal dialysis and EKGs; most cardiac procedures are completed in the Cath Lab
• Telemetry experience and ability to read EKGs required
• Must be able to handle a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions, discharges, transfers, and procedures
• Ability to set priorities and modify patient care in response to changing conditions using problem-solving skills and good judgment
• Make appropriate and timely notifications to physicians regarding patient condition changes
• Equipment used includes EKG Machine, Hoyer Lift, and LifePak
• EMR system: Meditech
• Low probability of floating to Med Surg
• Dress code: Navy scrubs
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
